The Great Catch Up Day - Poems #28-30

Image
Finishing off the month with something a little simpler.. -- Lanturne #1 Stars Comfort Remind you You are always Loved -- Lanturne #2 Skies Contain Hope and peace Watch the birds, they Know -- Lanturne #3 Cat Whiskers Find their way Sensors, almost Radars -- Yes, I did somewhat get lazy towards the end.. but it is 23:42 and I think it's fair to say I'm a little tired! It was a fun month, anyhow. Better than last year in numbers! Disclaimer: These are poems I won't be spending a lot of time on. As such, I don't expect perfection (neither do I need it). However feel free to tell me what you think about them, and if you enjoy certain lines more than others - I'm quite OK with constructive criticism! Are you participating in NaPo? Do you write poetry? Feel free to comment below and leave a link to your day one poems, and any general comments you wish to leave.

A Cat Meeting, a Fox, and an Artichoke

Image
I've let myself slide with NaPoWriMo, so this will be a double post, and later tonight I'll write Sunday's post. I'll be using the PAD prompt  for the first poem, and the 'Golden Shovel' prompt for the second. Since Last Night's Rain It's been grey all day, but dry, that's something, and the fox came again, to her usual spot, napping, Whilst the cats roam around in gardens, on roofs Schedule a five o'clock meeting (I have proof). They were four, in the front yard, two and two, My two, of course, but two extra, too. The fox is still sleeping, her babies wait For her nightly return, after the hunt's gain. --- Artichoke A ray of sunlight paints half an artichoke Sitting sadly on the side, oh,  It's a sad sight, to see this vegetable heart Cast aside, as common potatoes are weighed. But come down and I'll show you, by a simply made sauce, so much taste will emerge, many pieces to share...

Watercolours, Inks - Corgis and a Cat and Otter

Image
Recently I've been painting a lot more, which I'm quite happy about, as I often end up neglecting one or more of my hobbies/ creative outlets and get caught up in Life (with a dramatic capital L). I hope to transition to inks soon - I've tried them already and enjoy using them, but haven't quite mastered the technique yet. After buying a pack of inks on sale last year, and then being gifted another pack, I feel I really should start using them!  The advantage of watercolours is that they are 'erasable' to a certain degree, so mistakes are not always the end of the world. Not so with inks! I am hoping that my extra watercolour practice will help me when I start painting with the inks again.  I have quite a few project ideas, so will definitely be updating the blog with some new paintings soon. You can check the gallery , which I try to update fairly regularly, to see all the paintings I've posted so far.

Watercolour Hiatus Ending

Image
A few days ago I bought myself a nice new watercolour box - I do prefer that to the tubes, plus it's portable! I'm sort of getting back into watercolour - haven't really used it in a long time as I was using acrylics during college - so I've only painted a few easy scenes to try out some techniques. The trees were painted following a youtube video tutorial. Blue Cat Trees in a Poppy Field  Summer Tree All images  ©  Kerridwen. Do not use without permission

Colourful Cats

Image
I saw a lovely oil painting of a cat the other day, it inspired me to try and paint some 'blocky cats'. I like them when they look simple. They are both watercolour paintings, but I am working on some acrylic ones, too. :) I plan to paint more often and will be adding paintings to my 'Block Cats' collection in the next weeks or so. :)
