Imaginary Garden With Real Toads

I ended up not following the rhyme scheme.. it was too difficult! Maybe next time.


Foxy Feb

Cold bites our noses and wind tangles hair
Mornings are too dark and cold
But a hopeful sun seeps through the clouds
An orange hue spreads across the
Evening sky 
And it reminds me it's
Foxy Feb!
The month is brighter now
As I take to paper to celebrate
The majestic, cunning, fiery fox.

    First of all I love the painting.. there is something magic with foxes.. and this time of the year their fur is the finest.. really a great tribute to a beautiful animal.

    I love foxes too, though we only have jackals in my part of the world. I like the way the fox is linked to the season.

Dialogue Between a Stone and a Star

Also shared on Poets United  and Imaginary Garden With Real Toads It's day two of NaPoWriMo, and I'm back with a late night poem! (If you consider this time to be late. I suppose it depends!). I've been reading Stones and Stars , dipping in and out, since I never read poetry collections cover to cover, and the poems are really lovely. Then, last night, I couldn't sleep, and at around 2 am I had an idea for a poem - a conversation between a stone and a star. At first I had the idea that the stone would be lamenting its lack of qualities to the star, and then I realised it would be much nicer to have the stone itself know of its qualities.. Yes it's all a little silly, but the idea stayed with me all day.
