Poem Sketching - Song of Sorrow
Song of Sorrow
Kicking around pine cones
It's cold, the wind
Pushes raindrops against my face
Beating, tiny notes of music
Lamenting.
Would it not be wondrous - grow wings,
fly up, add notes - the soft
dancing notes of a tambourine.

Ah, the cold and wind and raindrops are definitely reason to lament.

DeleteI'd prefer the sound of a tambourine to the sound of the cold biting wind.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I loved this prompt. I'd never have used 'tambourine' without it!
DeleteIt would be good to be lifted up at times...perhaps if we listen hard enough!
ReplyDeleteWe have such a rain today... and I would prefer the real tambourine too...
ReplyDeletelovely images :)
ReplyDeleteclever use of the words...
ReplyDeleteI can really feel this poem, the lamenting, the cold rain.......and love the note of hope at the end, which uplifts the reader.......
ReplyDeleteI love your sketch and what a delightful poem. I often wish I could fly high like a bird and soar on the thermal winds to warmer places.
ReplyDeleteThe first stanza made me think of autumn...and the second of spring! I like the sketch, too--adorable.
ReplyDeleteindeed the song of sorrow but your words can make one dance in joy.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a profound write. I truly feel the despair of the persona
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Sunday
Much love...
Love the imagery at the end... fly up and add notes!

Lovely writing. Nature reflecting one's mood and making sad music, the yearning for the tambourine of joy. Very well written. I enjoyed this so much.
ReplyDeleteThat tambourine surprised me... nice! I can hear it.
